Links are provided to all key documents and particularly useful sites.  It is our collective voices that will bring about change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-2-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\"><strong>Step 1.  Become Informed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Learn what is happening in our watersheds.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Learn why Vancouver Island is unique. <a href=\"https:\/\/beaufortwater.org\/index.php\/2020\/12\/10\/who-owns-and-controls-the-beaufort-watersheds\/\">?<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>View 37 years of time lapse changes in our watersheds. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/earthengine.google.com\/timelapse\/\">?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access evidence-based reference sites.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Evergreen Alliance is a BC coalition of citizens, foresters, scientists and journalists providing information on conservation of BC forests.&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evergreenalliance.ca\">?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn how BC legislation does and does not affect rates of logging.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Managed Forest Council website. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfcouncil.ca\/\">?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand the limits of our outdated Private Managed Forest Land Act.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The 2003 Act <a href=\"https:\/\/engage.gov.bc.ca\/app\/uploads\/sites\/121\/2019\/11\/PMFLPR-WWH-Report-Final-1.pdf\">?<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2019 review of the Act <a href=\"http:\/\/b.\thttps:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/industry\/forestry\/forest-tenures\/private-managed-forest-land\/program-review\">?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn from examples of effective local action.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mission Municipal Forest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mission.ca\/city-hall\/departments\/forestry\/\">?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-2-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\"><strong>Step 2.  Spread Factual Knowledge<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Engage family, friends and colleagues.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Share factual information on your social media.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-2-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\"><strong>Step 3.  Write BC MLAs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Note the unique circumstances that puts all of south east Vancouver Island at risk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Insist that the rate of harvest on Private Forest Land be regulated to protect our watersheds.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reference the Private Managed Forest Land Act review 2019. <a href=\"http:\/\/b.\thttps:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/industry\/forestry\/forest-tenures\/private-managed-forest-land\/program-review\">?<\/a> &nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This act has not been reformed since 2003 and it needs to change!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Addresses for Members of BC Legislative Assembly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leg.bc.ca\/learn-about-us\/members\">?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following three-step process outlines actions for the public to take when advocating for forest and watershed protection on Vancouver Island.
